Hello, my name is Cindy.
I will be your therapist for today.
This is our new
M-a-s-t-e-r-c-a-r-e®
BACK-A-TRACTION®
system
that will relax your back and
provide needed relief
from your pain.
We will be using a mild traction,
letting your own body weight and
stretching do the work.
You will be in complete control
of everything
that happens.
You may stop at any time.
Most people don't want
to get off
the machine because it feels so good. |
 |
|
|
 |
First, let me adjust the balance of the machine,
according to your height.
Virtually any sized person can use this system, and it only requires
one simple adjustment.
There... that's done. |
|
|
Now, this is your starting
and ending position.
All you have to do is to
step up on the foot
rest,
with your feet between
the two
roller cushions. |
 |
|
|
 |
Holding the foot control
bar, pull it toward
you until your ankles are comfortable.
Not too much, just nice and snug.
The padded roller cushions will hold your feet in place while we
relax
back. |
|
|
There... that was easy...
Now you are horizontal, place your hands
on the vertical
control bars.
Each control bar has a push-button.
These are how
you control your angle...
horizontal, 15º
or 30º.
You can't go further than 30º |
 |
|
| |
 |
Good, you have rotated back to 15º.
That is where will work for a few sessions, until you are comfortable with
the procedure and your back builds strength. This the most effective
angle.
Try stretching out your arms way over your head.
Feel the
traction stretching your back? |
|
| |
Put one hand over your
head and the other on your stomach. Switch arms every 30
seconds or so.
You will begin to feel your back and muscles relax
as the disks in
your vertebrae are stretched,
allowing fluids to return and lubricate your
back. |
 |
|
| |
 |
Now, let's try both arms over your head
and slowly roll from side to side, twisting your back gently.
All these movements are designed to help your back regain its
strength, mobility and increase your range of motion, naturally. |
|
| |
OK... back
to horizontal.
Let's use your own power for some back traction.
Holding
the vertical control bars, push down
toward your feet. Feel your back
being stretched?
Alternate pushing and pulling slowly holding
your stretch position for 30 seconds each. |
 |
|
| |
 |
We are done now.
Take a few minutes to let your back relax.
When you are ready,
depress the control bar buttons and pull yourself vertical again.
Reach down and depress the foot controller bar's button and slide it
away from your ankles and feet.
You may dismount the
BACK-A-TRACTION® system now. |
|
| |
Next session you will do
the same things again. If you forget, there is a large wall-chart for
you to visualize your positions. And, here's a sheet of instructions with the same
information on what you just did.
You will do the same routine for 3 visits, then we will evaluate you for
changing the procedure
for the next sessions.
The key to why this works so well is the sliding back support. It
lets you be in total control while providing needed therapy for the back and muscles
to regain
mobility, strength and increase your range of motion. |
 |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
Thanks for coming in.
Next visit you will be doing this by yourself.
If you need assistance we'll be here, of course.
Make sure you stop by the front counter to schedule your next visit.
Bye, now... |
